Light up Legacy for the Cause (2020)

Sponsored by:

On the first weekend of December for the last two years, Legacy has come together for a walk around the big pond to celebrate LIGHT UP THE POND FOR A CAUSE. Neighbours who back onto the pond, have supported us by installing festive holiday lights and decorations, playing music and even videos. We’ve had the support of our business community including many builders and the developers to bring this event to life. Fire pits were placed around the pond to ensure we were kept warm and there was hot chocolate, cookies and lots of entertainment.
While we will miss this celebration more than any other, with the new COVID restrictions in place, our community holiday celebration will look a little bit different this year. We’ve decided to extend the boundaries of the event, and instead of one night of LIGHT UP THE POND FOR A CAUSE, we will do an entire weekend of LIGHT UP LEGACY FOR A CAUSE.
Together we will Light Up Legacy for Cause from Saturday, December 12 to Sunday, December 13.
Saturday, December 12 – We are encouraging everyone to walk (or drive) safely and keep distancing while enjoying the lights placed in the community by the Legacy Residents Association. Enjoy the decorations that neighbours have put in their homes, including the lanterns that we have provided and are inviting everyone to light up together at 5pm.
Don’t forget to walk around the big pond (walking only! – some neighbours may have extra lights and music for you to enjoy that night)
Remember to remain with your family only, and remain separate from others, for your safety and the safety of your loved ones. Please note that unfortunately there will be no fire pits, food, drinks or Santa, but if you want to drop off a gift for the cause that we are supporting you can do so, leaving your toy donation in the SW corner of the BIG pond.
Sunday, December 13 – If you are a member of the Community Association, you will receive the instructions printed. Otherwise, please come back to this page to print the Scavenger Hunt instructions. Complete the challenge and submit your responses to [email protected] to enter to win a Holiday prize!
You will also be able to download an activity book for your kids to enjoy this day!
Your kit will include:
- A 2020 ornament and 2021 community calendar (to continue the tradition we started last year)
- A Christmas Lantern to light up on Saturday, December 12 at 5pm
- Instructions to participate at a Community Scavenger Hunt on Sunday, December 13
As in the past two years, we will be collecting new toys for First Christmas in Canada, an organization that supports low income immigrant families. You can find pictures, videos and more information under their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FirstChristmasinCanada You can leave your toy donation by your front door with a note that says First Christmas in Canada and we will pick the donation up when we deliver your kit.
NOTE. If you are not sure if you are a member, please send us an email to [email protected] and we will confirm for you!
