What a way to celebrate the beginning of December for our fine community.
Over 600 residents came out for Light Up the Pond to snap photos with Santa, enjoy some hot chocolate, listen to Christmas music, connect with our Community Association Board and just be exactly what this community was planned to be…. a community of engaged individuals! This year’s event had nearly double the amount of people as in years past. A big thank you to all of our sponsors and volunteers. Over 20 volunteers came together to make this event happen and they deserve a huge pat on the back for all they do to make these events a success.
As we begin to wind down the year a couple quick announcements:
1. The community ice rink will open up later this month of Legacy Woods Lane weather permitting.
2. Please do not use the pond areas as an Ice Surface. These are storm ponds and the ice is a floating level, meaning there is often pockets of air between water and ice levels and there is a large risk to anyone attempting. The city does not permit skating/or any social activities on storm ponds due to inherit health risks.
3. Please be careful with icy road conditions, our neighbourhood has many roundabouts that become very slick. Give yourself extra time and ensure adhering to playground zones to keep our youth safe.
4. Finally we have seen an increase in the ask about pathways and who is responsible for clearing them. Often majority of pathways within Legacy fall to the city of Calgary. With that said, some areas may still fall under the developer if they are not fully developed. The city of Calgary will only clear pathways in approved areas. Currently no area of Legacy has an approved pathway clearing with the city of Calgary. If you have questions regarding this process please email [email protected] or the city of Calgary at 311.
